Fall '98: Steve Coulter, Steve Armstrong, Bruce Marchant and Charles Mathis |
Founded in 1998, "For the Love of Pete" is a pickup quartet comprised of Northern Lights singers. The members of the quartet change each contest so as to promote quartetting even for those who do not have a quartet. One quartet member is chosen as a 'rookie' -- either a singer who has never competed in a quartet competition, or someone who has not competed for some time. |

The original idea of "For the Love of Pete" was to pay tribute to Pete Hamlin, one of our founding members, who loved quartetting. Pete sang in a quartet called Gold Rush that last competed at the Fall 97 Convention held in Peterborough. |

Pete's sad passing made a lasting impression on the Northern Lights membership. He was very dedicated to the chorus and we thank him for that. Pete is survived by his wife Linda and his son Gavin. |
